Brockmans Gin recently hosted their international “Press For Gin” campaign, a secret and highly exclusive series of events with world class entertainment and top shelf cocktails.
Johnny Strange and his Theatre of Wonder entertained audiences at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse; Katie Trickett the amazing rubber girl, The Great Baldini and The Human Jukebox were among the line up of headlining entertainers.
Johnny put together a customised stunt on the request of Brockmans, the brief was to incorporate his record breaking sword swallowing with the theme of handcuffs. He did this by performing a unique escape act; swallowing a sword before being securely handcuffed in place with his hands behind his back using a set of police issue handcuffs, in a race against time he then had to pick the handcuffs, using his sense of touch alone, with just a regular hair pin. He had to escape the cuffs before he was able to remove the sword from his throat.

It’s International Sword Swallowers Day; yes, believe it or not we actually have a day dedicated to it!
Once again, every year like clockwork, sword swallowers around the world flock to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museums to demonstrate the ancient art of sword swallowing.
This daring feat has been around for hundreds of years, being mentioned as far back as 410AD, however as it is so dangerous there are currently less than 60 active sword swallowers alive in the world today, making it a very rare art form.
Johnny Strange spent the afternoon speaking with James Whale live on BBC Radio Kent about this amazing feat and what exactly International Sword Swallowers Day is all about.
